Planetary Pizza

It doesn’t take much time or effort to delight your family with this fun cosmic pizza. At the grocery store, grab prepared pizza dough plus a few key Armanino ingredients and let the space adventure begin.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb prepared fresh pizza dough
  • 2 tablespoons cornmeal
  • ¼ cup thawed Armanino Basil Pesto
  • 5 oz Armanino Italian Style Meatballs, thawed, halved
  • 15 slices pepperoni
  • 8 oz fresh mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tablespoon Armanino Grated Parmesan Cheese or 3-Cheese Blend

Directions

  1. Heat oven to 450°F. Lightly grease a pizza pan.
  2. Shape pizza dough into a ball on work surface. Let dough rest, loosely covered, 10 minutes. Sprinkle work surface with cornmeal and roll dough into 12-inch circle. Carefully transfer to prepared pan. Top with an even layer of pesto.
  3. Arrange meatball “moon rocks” and pepperoni “craters” randomly onto crust. Slice mozzarella and tear into irregular pieces to form cheese “clouds.”
  4. Bake 17 to 20 minutes, or until crust is golden brown. Sprinkle with Parmesan. Let cool 5 minutes before slicing and serving.

Chef’s Tips

  • If pizza dough is difficult to roll out, let it rest 5-10 minutes longer.
  • Add some “lava rivers” of tomato pizza sauce for extra flavor, or serve with marinara sauce for dipping.
